The Curse of the Bambino

Babe RuthThe Curse of the Bambino come around when the Baston Red Sox traded Babe Ruth(also known as The Bambino) to the New York Yankees in 1918. The curse stayed around until 2004 when the Boston Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years. It was believed that the trade of Babe Ruth created the curse. Since his nickname was the Bambino that is where the name of the curse came from. That name wasn't used much until an author by the name of Dan Shaughnessy, wrote a book about the curse then it was used a lot. In the 86 years that the Red Sox didn't win a World Series title they had 4 apperences. They lost each World Series in 7 games. Probably the most famous one was in 1975, when Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk, hit a walk off home run to set the stage for game 7 of this World Series.
