Information Aboout the World Series
The Boston Americans won the first World Series game ever held. They played the Pittsburg Pirates. It was the first World Series ever held at Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds(Wikipedia). The Series was best of nine with the Americans winning the last four games. One of the Pirates pitchers injured himself while trap-shooting so Deacon Phillippe had to pitch five complete games for the Pirates(Wikipedia). Deacon won three of five of the games he pitched in, but it wasn't enough to overcome the new American League team(Wikipedia). Boston pitchers Bill Dinneen and Cy Young led Boston to victory(Wikipedia). Honus Wagner, also played for the Pirates, but he was bothered by injuries. He only batted 6-27(.222) and committed six errors(Wikipedia).
